Housekeeping Job Description


JOB TITLE:              Executive Housekeeper

REPORT TO:           Rooms Division Manager / General Manager
             
LEVEL:                    


BASIC FUNCTION:           

Direct, control and coordinate all housekeeping activities in order that all guest rooms; public areas and back of house areas are cleaned and amenities are punctually replenished within budgeted costs with minimum inconvenience to the guests


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1.    To direct and coordinate all subordinate housekeeping staff to ensure that all day to day operational matters are handled on time and that guest expectation are met

2.    To coordinate with front office to ensure that rooms are serviced according to guests requirements, and vacant rooms are cleaned for new arrivals

3.    To monitor the daily servicing of guest rooms, public areas and back of house areas to ensure they conform to requisite standards

4.     To maintain systems to be able to handle day to day guest requests quickly and efficiently

5.      To prepares duty rosters, vacation plans and schedules and public holiday schedules to ensure efficient use of human resources

6.      To ensure employee uniforms are in good condition and laundered as per hotel standards

7.     To ensure guest laundry is laundered and delivered as per hotel standards, and guests are billed accordingly

8.     To maintain par stocks for all housekeeping operating equipment and supplies and re-orders as required

9.      To monitor the standard of work carried out by contractors engaged by the hotel to ensure that it meets the agreed quality

10.  To oversees inventory control, purchasing, disbursement and control for all aspects of housekeeping operations

11.  To direct and co-ordinate the mini-bar operation to ensure that all day to day operational matters are handled on time and guests are billed accordingly

12.   To administer the hotels ‘Lost and Found’ system

13.   To direct and coordinate all activities of the gardening department

14.   To prepare, monitor and control the hotel’s annual Housekeeping budget.

15.   To maintain efficient administration within the department preparing and submitting operational reports on time.


CRITERIA:


1.        Bachelor Degree in related field

2.        Minimum 5 – 7 years in similar position in international hotels

BASIC FUNCTION:           

To oversees and directs all aspects of overall laundry operations which shall include all House Laundry, Guest Laundry and Dry Cleaning activities

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1.      Supervises Laundry Supervisor, to ensure that highest possible hygiene and finish standard of hotel linen is maintained at all times.

2.      Inspect Guest Laundry, Dry Cleaning and Press work on daily basis, to ensure optimum quality of work, prompt pick-up and on-time delivery of garments.

3.    Coordinates with Executive Housekeeper and Director of Food & Beverage to ensure that there is an adequate supply of linen and uniforms available at all times, in particular on weekends/holiday, when laundry is closed.

4.      Monitors wash formulas and use of washroom chemicals in order to maintain whiteness and brightness of linen and to ensure linen is returned to user departments free of stains and unpleasant odors.

5.  Maintain records of wash rejects and in case of excessive reject rates, improves wash formulas accordingly.

6.    Ensures that type of laundry chemicals used is in line with hotel policies and procedures environmental recommendations.

7.    Processes a laundry test piece at least twice a year to monitor mechanical/chemical damage factors as well as tensile strength loss of linens owned by the hotel.

8.      Reviews the laundry’s environmental performance and achievements twice a year.

9.      On an annual basis, checks with local environmental authorities for new code requirements.

10.  Develops and implements standard operating procedures, as well as production and quality standards.

11.  Schedules working times in a way to optimize production, utilization of equipment as well as utilization of water and energy.

12.  Proposes/implements in coordination with the Chief Engineer, possible energy savings in the laundry and dry cleaning department.

8.             Removes the rubbish from maid’s pantry room to the garbage bed on the lower lobby floor

9.             Scrubs the back staircase and floors weekly

10.         Polishes all wooden skirt at the floor corridors

BASIC FUNCTION:           

Responsible for proper operation of all washing machines and keeping Engineering well informed of required machine repairs and maintenance

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1.             Cleans and checks the washing machine daily prior the operation

2.             Separates garments into bundles according to colors and type of material, etc

3.             Checks the garments for stains and pre-spot if necessary

4.            Weigh the garments before sending for washing that they are not overloading the capacity of
          the machine

5.             Controls appropriate chemical being used and keeps the chemical easy to reach and in a
           suitable place

6.        Closely a control the operation of working machine in case of any technical problem of the machine happens during the machine is working

7.             Makes decision for urgent garments to be priority washing

8.             Controls qualities are up to the standard of our service

9.             Cleans and maintains the machinery after use daily




CRITERIA:


1.    Vocational or Technical certificate or diploma in related field

2.    Minimum 1 – 3 years in similar position in international hotels

3.    Able to handle demanding workload

BASIC FUNCTION:           

Responsible of proper operation, cleaning and maintenance of the Pressing machines

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1.             Cleans and checks pressing machines prior the operation daily
2.             Separates the garments for appropriate pressing

3.             Arranges express presser for urgent garment

4.             Immediately corrects the quality are of standard

5.             Checks and ensures the quality is of standard

6.             Release the old water in the steam pipe prior

7.             Turns on/ off steam values as specified after use daily


CRITERIA:


1.    Vocational or Technical certificate or diploma in related field

2.    Minimum 1 – 3 years in similar position in international hotels

3.    Able to handle demanding workload
